Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights - Asylum Program
The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area was founded in 1983 and has since gained national recognition for providing pro bono legal services to indigent refugees fleeing persecution and torture in their countries. To date, LCCR’s Asylum Program has represented over 2,000 refugees. The Asylum Program assembles volunteer teams consisting of attorneys, interpreters and mentor attorneys. Volunteers represent clients in proceedings before the U.S. Asylum Office, Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
