Inland Empire Latino Legal Aid (IELLA)
IELLA's legal aid services are available to the low-income communities
of San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Project services focus on
providing orientation, counsel and advice, and brief services for family
law, landlord-tenant law (respondents), and other civil law issues
(small claims and respondents in collections and tort matters).
IELLA's Legal Aid Project operates with volunteer attorneys who donate
their services during Legal Aid Clinics. The volunteer attorneys usually
provide service monthly or bi-monthly. All potential clients are
screened for eligibility based on their household income (clinic uses
the LSC income eligibility guidelines), county of residency, and case
type.
IELLA handles non-complex cases and documents may be prepared for the
clients "in propria persona." Representation is not an offered service
due to limited staff attorney availability.
