Project Sentinel

Other Information:

Project Sentinel is a non-profit agency dedicated to improving access to affordable housing, particularly for those who face the greatest hurdles to their housing goals, including low income and minority members of our community.

Project Sentinel is uniquely equipped to assist individuals with a wide range of specific housing issues.  For renters, it addresses issues such as discrimination, reasonable accommodation, habitability, repairs, privacy, and deposits.  For potential homebuyers, the agency offers first time homebuyer workshops and individual counseling.  For current homeowners, the agency intervenes to protect against foreclosure and predatory lending practices.  The agency also provides reverse mortgage counseling for seniors. Project Sentinel is a HUD certified counseling agency for all of these services.

Project Sentinel's fair housing services include counseling, investigation, education and enforcement.  The agency's dispute resolution programs offer counseling, referral, conciliation and mediation to tenants and landlords, as well as persons seeking rental housing.  All of the agency's programs emphasize cooperative and proactive solutions.

In all of its services the agency strives to foster cooperative relations between housing consumers and housing providers.  One of its goals is to prevent conflicts that may arise from housing situations, empowering all parties to resolve their own problems by working together towards resolution of conflicts outside the court system.  In addition to housing services, the agency offers free mediation services for all community disputes in the cities of Palo Alto, Los Altos, Mountain View, and Sunnyvale.
